Wrap-up

Dear Campers,

The focus of week five is an active commitment to the person you intend to share the blessing with.   There are countless ways to demonstrate this commitment.  It requires quite an investment on your part, but the rewards will most certainly pay off.  In showing an active commitment you must study the person you are blessing.  By study, I mean you must find what makes them tick or what lights up their eyes.   Cheryl Crow sings a song called "The Light in Your Eyes".   One of the lyrics says, "it's not having what you want, it's wanting what you got!"  Each of us has the tools to share the blessing, it is simply a matter of using them.

As we close this session of RBC tomorrow I would ask you to please pack our church food pantry with peanut butter.  If you have not been at RBC in a while, go ahead and come as a special guest.  This blessing is certainly worth sharing.  See you dark and early tomorrow.

Blessings,
Amy

Worth the read...

Good morning campers,

I just got this email from Morris and I thought it was certainly worth sharing the blessing.

See you dark and early tomorrow.
Blessings,
Amy

A lovely story....
"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who are evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing". Albert Einstein

The "W" in Christmas - Author Unknown

Each December, I vowed to make Christmas a calm and peaceful experience. I had cut back on nonessential obligations -- extensive card writing, endless baking, decorating, and even overspending. Yet still, I found myself exhausted, unable to appreciate the precious family moments, and of course, the true meaning of Christmas.

My son, Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It was an exciting season for a six-year-old. For weeks, he'd been memorizing songs for his school's "Winter Pageant."

I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd be working the night of the production. Unwilling to miss his shining moment, I spoke with his teacher. She assured me there'd be a dress rehearsal the morning of the presentation. All parents unable to attend that evening were welcome to come then. Fortunately, Nicholas seemed happy with the compromise.

So, the morning of the dress rehearsal, I filed in ten minutes early, found a spot on the cafeteria floor and sat down. Around the room, I saw several other parents quietly scampering to their seats. As I waited, the students were led into the room. Each class, accompanied by their teacher, sat cross-legged on the floor. Then, each group, one by one, rose to perform their song.

Because the public school system had long stopped referring to the holiday as Christmas," I didn't expect anything other than fun, commercial entertainment - songs of reindeer, Santa Claus, snowflakes and good cheer. So, when my son's class rose to sing, "Christmas Love," I was slightly taken aback by its bold title.  Nicholas was aglow, as were all of his classmates, adorned in fuzzy mittens, red sweaters, and bright snowcaps upon their heads. Those in the front row-center stage -- held up large letters, one by one, to spell out the title of the song. As the class would sing "C is for Christmas," a child would hold up the letter C. Then, "H is for Happy," and on and on, until each child holding up his portion had presented the complete message, "Christmas Love."

The performance was going smoothly, until suddenly, we noticed her; a small, quiet, girl in the front row holding the letter "M" upside down -- totally unaware her letter "M" appeared as a "W."
The audience of 1st through 6th graders snickered at this little one's mistake. But she had no idea they were laughing at her, so she stood tall, proudly holding her "W." Although many teachers tried to shush the children, the laughter continued until the last letter was raised, and we all saw it together. A hush came over the audience and eyes began to widen. In that instant, we understood the reason we were there, why we celebrated the holiday in the first place, why even in the chaos, there was a purpose for our festivities.

For when the last letter was held high, the message read loud and clear:
"C H R I S T W A S L O V E"
And, I believe, He still is.
Amazed in His presence...
Humbled by His love.
May each of you have a Merry Christmas and a blessed
New Year as you reflect on His Amazing Love for us.
Hope you all have a wonderful Christwaslove holiday season.

Cool opportunity

Dear Campers,

Well, you certainly "backed" into a great workout this morning!  I hope that you not only learned a bit of anatomy about your back, but felt is work as well.

Another thing that I forgot to mention is that sitting in your car is a perfect place to practice contracting your rhomboids, latisimus dorsi and erector spinea muscles.  (Shoulder blades together, zip up the back and fold in your angel wings.)  Remember, to create a beautiful future, you have to have a strong back!

See you dark and early on Friday.
Blessings,
Amy

Monday-Blessing

Dear Campers,

Wow!  You did such a great job with the workout this morning.  Who needs Scared Lions, Yellow Brick Roads, or Wizards when you do all those "Dorothy" squats?  So much fun.

Just a recap of our Blessing book to ensure that we are all feeling connected.
1.  Use physical touch to create the groundwork for future steps.
2.  Use spoken words to ensure connection.
3.  Place high value in the person recieving the blessing.
4.  Use each of the above tools to help visualize an amazing future for the recipient.
I know that this book is changing, encourging and allowing me to bless with intention.  I hope you are having a few new thoughts/actions along the way as well.  Remember, different is good!  Think a thought that creates blessings with every step you take and with everyone you encounter.  Thank you for being so willing to help break down tables today in the gym.  You all worked like finely tuned machines!  Know that I will be praying for your safety, your strength and your success.  See you dark and early Wednesday.

Blessings,
Amy

The Blessing of Spoken Words

Dear Campers,

I know many of you are already tucked in bed, but I hope that there are a few of you who are still up to read this before the day ends.  Today in camp we talked about the power of the spoken word.  Our book reminds us that when we open our mouths to talk, we have the ability to communicate the blessing to those we love the most.  By deciding to communicate the words of love and acceptance verbally, we do not send away a child, spouse or a friend in need.   There are times in life when positive and loving words are the absolute best gift you can give.

Proverbs 3:27-28 says, do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in power of your hand to do so.  Do not say,..."go, and come back, and tomorrow I will give it," when you have it with you today.

That scripture is very powerful to me as it reminds me to share the spoken words of the blessing today and then again tomorrow.

Great job with your workout this morning!   Please bring an extra towel on Wednesday.  *Just a small old rag will be perfect.   I have an extra special workout designed for us.

Be sure to keep your nutrition in check.  There are tons of holiday food around you.  Choose wisely, my friends!  Can't wait to see you dark and early Wednesday.

Thank you so much for the joy each of you bring to my world.

Much love and many blessings,
Amy

The Blessing - Part 2

Dear Campers,

What a great week it has been at RBC.  We grew in our faith by learning that meaningful touch is the foundation of words for that will be spoken and a biblical example of love.  We grew our friendships by touching someone that was a sweaty mess and you still loved them.  Seriously, I know that sweaty people, poison ivy victims and leprosy patients are all bit uncomfortable when it comes to meaningful touch, but just like Jesus touched the lepers, you touched the sweaty!  I think that is very neat.   I am hoping that you don't need reminder of how we grew our fitness levels this week.   If your body isn't reminding you already, I feel strongly that it will tomorrow.

We will have a bonus workout Monday morning.  I know that many of you do not have to go to work that day, so I have an idea that will make it worth you getting out of bed and getting your workout done.......  On Sunday afternoon take a few minutes and plan your grocery shopping list for the entire week.  After RBC let's all change into dry clothes and go get our shopping done.  There is no one at the stores at that time of day, only weirdos!  You could have everything done and spend all the holiday time with your family sharing The Blessing instead of fighting the crowds!   (I promise I won't even give you a hard time about what you are buying!)  I would love for us to be together one more time before Thanksgiving to share each others presence.  See you dark and early Monday.

I will be praying for your safety, your strength and your success.

Blessings,
Amy

The Blessing - Part 1

Dear Campers,

It has been such a blessing to be with you so far this week.  Being with each of you at RBC always brings me joy.  I wanted you to know the name of the book we are studying this session in case you wanted to grab it and follow along.   It is called The Blessing by Gary Smalley and John Trent, Ph.D.  I am so thankful that Menielle Donahoo shared this fantastic book with me.  Today in our devotional time we talked about the element of Meaningful Touch.  The book explains that meaningful touch creates a foundation for words that will be spoken.  I challenged you to intentionally try to begin using this technique with the ones you love.  A gentle hand on a shoulder, a pat on the back, the holding of a hand, a loving hug and even a kiss all serve as a biblical reminder for each of us to use the gift of meaningful touch in our lives.  This may be very hard for you in the beginning or may feel even unnatural; just keep trying and it will create countless new blessings for you and the reciever.  Remember that boot campers are WEIRD and are "ok with being unconfortable!"  (Just in case you forgot!)

Enjoy the extra rest in the morning and remember that the only way RBC works is by building your faith first, your friendships second, and your fitness third.  I want to say thank you to Granbury First United Methodist Church for being the home of our gatherings.   As our closing song says, "let it be said of us, that we were a blessing to all we encountered."

See you dark and early Friday,
Amy

Washed Wednesday at the Y

Dear Campers,

What a beautiful day we have been given!  How are you going to celebrate this fantastic fall day?  I challenge all of us to eat our lunch outside today.  It can be like we are all having lunch together!   Make it happen.

Our scripture moment this week comes from Matthew 14: 27-31.  I would encourage you to read it and draw your own inspiration to find your own parallel life situation.  I am going to ask a few campers to share their "Peter" moment with the group.

Health tip this week is to remember that water consumption aids in the process of elimination in our digestive system.  If we can improve the function of the digestive system and allow it to remove the waste from our bodies more efficiently, we will probably find ourselves being more efficient in even more aspects of our life.  (*Less time in the bathroom means more time for other things!  Ha!)

Water conservation tip is for you to only use your dishwasher when loads are full.  The problem with this is that many of us rinse the dishes before we wash them because they have to sit there so long to get a complete load!  If you have only used a few plates and utensils, it has been shown that a quick water wash in the sink is a better water conservation technique than to both rinse and then later wash a full dishwasher load.  The average faucet spills about 2 gallons per minute and a completely full dishwasher uses about 6 gallons.  This is the time that you need to stop, think and become aware of your dish washing habits.  You make the best choice for your household, but remember each drop counts!

Tomorrow we meet at the Y for a water workout.  As I mentioned last week, I do not want your to wear swim suits.  I want you to be fully clothed.  Jeans, shorts or tights, a fitted long sleeve shirt and old tennis shoes are the proper H20 RBC workout wear.  Be sure that they are snug, but not too tight to move.  The clothing is designed to give you support where your body needs it and create a more challenging experience in the water.  Bring an extra towel to use a knee spot.  DO NOT depend on the Y to supply whatever towel situation you are going to need.    If you are showering or changing at the Y,  be sure to have your own stuff.  The Y does not need 50 people slamming their towel supply at one time.

I can't wait to see you dark and early tomorrow at the Y.  Let's get washed!

Blessings,
Amy

Thank you!

Dear Campers,

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the generous donation of food this morning at RBC!  There was 600 pounds of food that was blessed with each and every squat this morning.  Our church's food pantry serves so many people each week right here in Granbury.  You are making good things happen and washing yourself in the water of life with each and every act of kindness.  The commitment to your faith, your friends and your fitness never ceases to amaze me.

We will meet dark and early at the church on Monday and then take it to the waters of the Y for our workout on Wednesday.  I need you to let Martha know on Monday if you plan on making a splash! Commitment means business!

It looks like we will have beautiful weekend weather, so get out outside and enjoy it!  There will be a group run/walk starting at 5:30 and another starting at 8:00 (both leaving from the Y).  Use this a a way to connect with your fitness friends.

See you dark and early on Monday at the church.

Thank you again,
Amy

Pack it up for Friday!

Dear Campers,

Wow, the winds of change have arrived with the weather in Granbury today.  I always find myself telling everyone that change is good, but to be honest, changing to cold weather is a tough one for me.  I can hear all of you saying, "Amy, just be ok with being uncomfortable!"  Isn't the accountability of RBC a remarkable thing for all of us?

Our scripture focus this week comes from Isaiah 43:2, "when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; they shall not overflow you.  When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned nor shall the flames scorch you."  This is such a comfort to me to know that when life sends challenges my way, I will always have God with me.

The heath tip reminder is that water helps to regulate our body temperature.  If you are cold, drink warm water or a cup of green tea.  I promise a cup a green tea this afternoon will warm your body and energize you, as well.

Environmentally, remember to use leftover ice to water your house plants.  Decide to never pour ice down the drain.  There is always a plant that could use it.  Small steps lead to big changes!

Remember that tomorrow is Back Pack Workout day.  You pack should weigh at least 10 pounds...15 would be great for your body and our food pantry, too!!  It will be a blast!   Remember to wrap those canned goods up tight in a big towel to keep them compact and cushioned in your backpack.  If you have not gotten your goods yet, I have heard that there is a need for canned meats and peanut butter.  You are a part of such a great thing in doing this.  All I can say to you now is THANK YOU and your quads will say thank you later!

Also, I am needing a firm commitment about your participation in the water workout next Wednesday, November 2.  I need to have the appropriate number of life guards to meet YMCA safety requirements.  Commit day is tomorrow!  Please let Martha know yes or no as you sign in tomorrow.

Find comfort knowing that God is with you, seek comfort in a warm beverage today and live with comfort know your are making the world a better place.  I will be praying for your safety, your strength and your success.

See you cold, dark and early tomorrow,
Amy

Mid-week wash

Dear Campers.

I wanted to take a moment and update you on a few of our scripture references that have guided our journey this session.

Isaiah 12:3 - With JOY you shall draw water; water from the wells of salvation.
Proverbs 25:25 - Just as cold water is to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country.

When I reflect on these two simple sentences, it truly describes how each of us are called to live our lives.  When we joyfully draw from the well, our soul should will no longer feel weary.   Last Friday we learned that joy is the fusion of happiness, contentment and gratitude all wrapped up in one emotion.  So, now I ask, "what fills your cup, or soothes your weary soul"?  Whatever it is, it must bring you JOY!  Turn your "joy detector" on and find out what makes it beep!

Water Conservation Actions:
Turn off the water as you brush your teeth!  Use a cup.
Do not use sprinklers on windy days.
Fix your leaky faucets!   *Hooray to Rebecca and Wayne for taking action to create a conservation reaction!!

Water Works in Your Body:
Water helps to alleviate headaches.
Water helps to cushion and lubricate your joints.
Hydration helps your body do EVERYTHING more efficiently.

I thank you for changing this weeks schedule.  I will see you tomorrow (Thursday) for our third workout this week.  We will be recognizing the participants in the run this Saturday.

Thank you for the joy you bring to my life.

See you dark and early,
Amy

Great week washed in the water...

Hi Campers,

It has been a great week at RBC!   We have directed our attention to the scriptural elements of water, we have reflected on the importance of water in our bodies and we have focused on ways to take care of this precious resource.  I am so proud of you and thank you so much for being willing to open your heart and hands to create fluidity in our lives.

A brief recap of our week:
MONDAY
Genesis 1:20 - God said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures and let the birds fly above the face of heaven."
Hydration brings clearer thinking processes.  Think and drink!
Shorten your shower to 3 minutes.
WEDNESDAY
Genesis 21: 14-19 - This is the story of Hagar and son being lost without water and God opened her eyes to see the well.
Staying hydrated actually gives us more energy.  Powerful thoughts and actions require hydration!
Keep an extra bottle of water in your car for emergencies!  You never know who might need the energy of water to get through their day,
FRIDAY
Genesis 2:10 - Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there, it parted and became four river heads.

Water, much like a river, carries nutrients to each cell in our body.  See it as a conductor of electricity.  Ask yourself what kind of nutrients are you asking your body to deliver?  Put good in and get good out..........

I would challenge each one of us, as Granbury residents, to make the commitment to keep Lake Granbury clean.  It is just a wide spot in the Brazos River.  What if we treated it like it was the river out of Eden?   Hmmmmm.....

Remember that we will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday of next week.  Enjoy your weekend, but remember the importance of water with each drink, splash or spill.

*We might even get rain....keep praying.  There will be a group of runners/walkers leaving from the Y on Saturday morning at 6:30.  Also, if you would like to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors this evening, tonight is First Friday at Barking Rocks.

I love each and every moment that I get to spend with this group of believers.  Being with "like-minded" individuals is so nurturing to the soul.  Thank you again.  I will be praying for your safety, your strength and your success!

See you dark and early Tuesday,
Amy

Monday...Washed by the Waters

Dear Campers,

What a great start to a new camp!  You did a super job this morning.  Thank you for making yourself present in such a beautiful way.  You inspire me with each smile, each squat and even  every single grimace of pain.  This will be a fantastic 5 week session.  We will be turning our attention to the element of water.  As I mentioned this morning, there are 722 water references in the bible.  The first is Genesis 1:2 and it flows all the way through Revelations 22:17.  Without water, life cannot exist.  It is critical to every cell in our bodies.  The human body is over 70% water and will begin to loose optimal functioning the moment dehydration begins to occur.  Water is the "electricity" of life!    Each day during this camp we will celebrate a scripture that pertains to water, learn an important fact about hydration and create change in our approach to preserving this vital resource.

*Our first scripture is Genesis 1:20 -  Then God said, "let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures and let the birds fly about the face of the heavens."

*We learned that water consumption brings clearer thought process.  When signs of dehydration creep in, cognitive skill begin to diminish.  Water is such a key element to survival that when lost in the desert, the human body sees mirages of water as a coping mechanism and as a way to signal the body to forge on with a final push to find the elixir of life.

*Today I challenged you to take 3 minute showers as a way for us to conserve water in during this drought.  (Maybe some of the changes will stick with us even when it rains again.  It will rain again, just keep praying!)  If you need to shave and shampoo, then turn the water off, suds up, then rinse off.  See it as a challenge and a way to work on your fast twitch muscle fibers!!!

There are a few date modifications that I need to make to this camp schedule.  GISD will be out of school on Monday, Oct. 10 for Columbus Day.  We will not meet that day.  That week we will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.  The following week, October 17-21, many of your fellow campers will be participating the the Stephenville Spooktacular fun run (you, too can still get registered!) on October 22, so the week prior to that we will meet on Monday 17, Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20.  Sorry if that is confusing....just ask and keep checking your email!

There is a group of campers that are meeting to walk/run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Y.  If you want to be a part of this group, just come.  Same time different channel!

Unless I see you tomorrow at the Y to run, I will see you dark and early Wednesday morning.

Be thankful for our water.

Blessings,
Amy

New boot camp

Dear Campers,

Just a reminder that a new 5 week camp starts tomorrow.  I am so excited to share our focus with each of you.  The camp costs $75.  Any amount you choose to pay over that will be donated to our "Feed Between the Lines" program.  We will be supporting this program again on lieu of T-shirts this session.  (Please know that if you are not coming to RBC due to financial restraints, just come anyway.  If you need to pay by the week or even by the session you can.  If you want to be developing your faith, your friendships and your fitness  levels, this is the place for you.)  Tomorrow will be a great time to bring a friend into our flocks.  Be sure to bring your WATER!

See you dark and early,
Amy

Wednesday Wisdom

Hi Campers,

Fantastic job with those Spiderman push-ups this morning!  You never cease to amaze me with the things you are willing to try and the things that you accomplish when you do try.  I keep having this feeling that one day  I am going to throw a new thing your way and you will say, "NO WAY" but today was not that day, and for that I am grateful!

As we introduced ourselves to a strangers at RBC this morning, I challenged you to introduce yourself to at least one person in the community today, too.   Allow them to see the joy that radiates from your soul.  Share that joy with others and yours will magnify as a result of your kindness.  Cross the line (in a positive way) with a stranger today!  Like our closing song said this morning...."YOUR UNBELIEVABLE"!   I am praying for your safety, your strength and your success!

See you dark and early on Friday,
Amy

P.S.  Many of you hae asked about next camp.  Here's the answer... October 3-Nov 4!

Wednesday

Good morning sweet campers!

Just wanting to see if there is any hula-hoop love in Granbury this morning?   You did great with the new stuff that I threw at your body yesterday.  Today I am challenging you to make one of your "5 above the line" GRATITUDE.  I am happy to report that even though my alarm went off this morning without a hitch, I was still able to instantly shift into Gratitude Mode.

Can't wait to see you tomorrow.  I will be praying for your safety, your strength and your success at changing your lines.

Blessings,
Amy

Thank you

Dear Campers,

I know that many of you saw the thank you post and picture of all the food from yesterday on Facebook.  If you have not, check it out, because you were a part of a great moment.  I was overwhelmed by your generous gift and you willingness to choose to change the lines.  Your workout yesterday not only changed the lines of your own health and fitness, but also changed the health of those that will be receiving the food.  You provided over 500 pounds of food..................amazing!

I had a great meeting yesterday with Stacy Bishop (the counselor) and Jimmy Dawson (the Principal) at Acton Middle School.  We are working out the kinks and are going to jump to our "Feed Between the Lines" program.   They were overwhelmed with our idea and generosity.  The RBC program will initially be designed to get healthy food to the kids that don't have anything to eat prior to their participation in an athletic event.  Many parent bring food to their kids, but I have been told by the coaches that at least 50% of the kids do not have any pre-game fuel.  You are making great things happen for kids and I am so proud of you.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  We will be working with both Acton Middle School and Granbury Middle School!

We have one more week to go in this camp.  Renew you commitment to healthy eating and make good choices over the weekend.

Thank you and see you dark and early Monday,
Amy

Friday challenge

Dear Campers,

Thank you in advance for accepting the back pack challenge for tomorrow.  If you were not at RBC on Wednesday, here are the steps to success for tomorrow.
1.  Locate a backpack.......do not go buy one.  If you need one, just let me know.  Any kind of backpack will work.
2.  Lay a large towel on the ground and place 10 can of food in that towel.
3.  Wrap the canned goods in the towel just like a gift.
4.  Place that gift inside the backpack and zip it up!
5.  Bring this backpack to RBC tomorrow.....bring your dumbbells, workout towel and water too!

Tomorrow we will workout outside again, unless it is raining.  Let's meet inside just as usual.  You will wear your backpack for the entire workout and the share the gift of the food before you leave.  It is the coolest thing ever, and I am so excited.  This is definitely outside the lines!

See you dark and early,
Amy

Tuesday

Dear Campers,

Thank you for hearing my plea to change from t-shirt aquisition to getting nutrition to the kids caught between the lines.  I have a meeting scheduled with Stacy Bishop at AMS and with Jincy Ross (Jincy, just say "yes!") at GMS to begin to formulate a plan of action.  Thank you for commitment to faith, friends and fitness.  I will be praying for your safety, your strength and your success!

See you dark and early tomorrow,
Amy

Wednesday

Sweet Campers,

The wisdom today from is to find your "5 above the line".   Make the RBC hand signal today to remind yourself that only 5 things can successfully occupy 80% of your time.  I challenge you to share that idea with at least one other person.  More is not better....better is better.  Great job with the box and band workout yesterday.  Hope it was fun and challenging to you.  Please let me know if I can help you in any way as we move together on this journey to faith, friends, and fitness.

I care about your safety, your strength and your success.
See you dark and early,
Amy

Find your line

Happy Tuesday, Campers!

How are you?  First thing this morning (as I was drinking my water) my legs told me that they loved all the squats from yesterday!  I hope yours spoke similar words.

Yesterday we began our journey to faith, friends, and fitness by discussing "the lines" that are around us.  I encouraged you to become aware of the thousands of physical lines that shape our daily lives.  Some of these could be the lines on highways, lines in architecture, lines in furniture or even the lines on our faces!  These are the lines that allow us to move safely in many directions, add structure to our lives and to apply beautiful distinction to our faces.  As you move through the rest of your day, continue to see these lines and reflect on their purpose.  (You may even want to journal some of your thoughts so far.)  We will continue our journey tomorrow morning.

I want to express gratitude to Granbury First United Methodist Church for being the place to "find your line" this session.

See you dark and early,
Amy

Righteous Wrap-up and Planning Ahead

Dear Campers,

Great job!  You thrived through 5 weeks of 5:00am in the summer.  I am so proud of you.  Our focus this session has been Living Righteously - Making the right decision at the right time.  The scripture references that I used were:
  • Isiah 32:17 - The work of the righteous will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance of forever.
  • Matthew 13:43 - Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.  He who has ears to hear, let them hear!
  • Proverbs 10:11 - The mouth of the righteous is a well of life.
Mark these scriptures in your Bible and use them as a commitment to shape your decisions as you move through your life.  Many times the next best right step is to simply listen to someone going through a heartbreaking time in their life.  Just listen, just be there and just pray.  It is certainly the righteous thing to do.

Many of you are curious about the next camp.  It will be a "mini-camp" that goes July 25 - August 2.  The first week we meet MWF and the second week week we will meet on Monday and Tuesday only.  It will be 5 power - packed workouts for $20 to keep you primed for our next big RBC experience.  The next camp will start on August 22 when GISD gets rolling again.

Thank you for your commitment to your health, this program and your friends.  I truly believe that the success of RBC comes in the weekly renewal of your faith, your fitness and your friends.  I am so blessed to have the opportunity to guide such as amazing group of believers.

Please pray for your RBC friends that will be participating in adventure events this weekend.   We are headed to Colorado on Sunday in an effort to beat the heat....I just may not come home!

See you dark and early on July 25,
Amy

Wonderful Wednesday

Hi Campers,

You did great this morning with that 1 minute interval workout!   You can do anything for 1 minute and you proved it 52 times this morning.  If you have not become a "fan or liked" Revival Boot Camp on Facebook be sure to do that today.  It is another way for us to stay connected.  This morning I posted the findings of a study released today that revealed that Americans today are consuming 570 more calories each day than in 1977.  The study directly linked the increase in calories consumption to snacking and to portion obsession.   We have to stop the snacking.  When you feel the snack attack coming on,  realize that you are probably thirsty or bored.  So get up and think a new thought and chug 24 ounces of cool water.   In 1977, most Americans were sitting down at a table with their families and eating 3 meals a day!  Let's flash back and go retro in our approach to fueling our bodies.   Also, capture some time with your family by sitting down and being together sharing food and experiences..... turn the TV off!

Now, as far as portions go...........picture a ziploc bag just bigger than sandwich size but not as big as a quart size.  Got it?  That is the size of a human stomach.  Hmmmmm, now rethink your meals.  Everything should be able to fit into that baggie.   We have a bad case of portion distortion that must be changed.   Focus on high quality nutrient rich foods for you and your family.  Give you and your family the nutrition advantage.

Friday will be another kick in the pants workout!  Be sure to connect with those that you know we were missing.  Accountability and connection are the keys to RBC success.   Thank you for the energy that you brought to the workout this morning and for the love you bring into my life each time we are together.  Know that I will be praying for your safety, your strength and your success.

See you dark and early Friday,
Amy

Checking in

Dear Campers,

I hope that this email finds you feeling strong and fit this morning!  You did great with the workout yesterday and I have another action-packed and challenging workout planned for tomorrow.  You need to be there.  Many of you were missing yesterday.  If you are vacationing, you are excused, but if you were just lazy, fix it and make it happen for tomorrow.

Yesterday during our devotion time I shared an excerpt for my study bible.  It is so good that I am going to send it to you for you to read as your new mantra!

Making Friends with Change
"Change is not always an enemy.  It can be God's way of saying enough is enough.  He will promote you from one task to another.  If you can remain flexible and face the changes of life with the assurance of God, you will win.  It is God's desire to make you a wise person.  What I am trying to tell you is that life has a middle name and it's change.  Anything that grows will change."

I will continue to share more of this story tomorrow dark and early!  Enjoy your day!  Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!    Thank you so much for the blessings you bring to my life.

See you dark and early,
Amy
