Thursday

Faithful Campers,

You did great on that crazy cardio packed workout this morning!  I hope that you felt your heart rate soaring and then recovering to do it all over again!  Using your recovery heart rate as a way to gauge your fitness level is a great way to see your improvements.  The healthier that your heart is the quicker it will return to your normal resting heart rate.  Begin to pay attention to how your body is responding to RBC in a multi-faceted way.   The positive responses could not only be physical, but spiritual, emotional and social, as well.  The POSSIBILITIES are endless!

Continue to hydrate, use wisdom when fueling your body, get to bed early and pray without ceasing.  Remove the word IMPOSSIBLE from your vocabulary and replace it with I'M POSSIBLE (as long as I am including God in my life).  Continue to share this thought process with others and watch the possibilities unfold!  Create opportunities for a fantastic day.

See you dark and early tomorrow,
Amy

Monday

Good Morning Campers,

Great workout this morning!  Did you learn anything about yourself during our time together this morning?  Did you think that 8 more overheard presses were impossible even if they really were?  I hope that you walked away with heavy arms and a light heart.  I encourage you to spend some time alone today and focus on feeling the presence of God as a reminder that any impossible situation will be resolved in His time.  Rely on God and say, "I'm possible" at least 20 times today.  Share this thought with others through out the day.  There are so many people that need to hear this message.  The only way to get from Impossible to I'm Possible is to put God right in the middle of it!

Here are a few healthy tips to put into practice today.
1.  Be sure to get your hydration requirement.
2.  Eat 2 serving of fruit and 3 servings of veggies (minimum).
3.  Don't eat fried food.   If you fry, you will die!!!
4.  Eat soup for lunch.  Soup helps to fill you up on less calories.  Read the label and choose the low sodium variety.
5.  Floss your teeth and smile more than ever!

Be sure to sign-in each morning and introduce yourself to someone you don't know.  Create connections for success.

See you dark and early,
Amy

What a great week!

Dear Campers,

What a great week it has been.  Thank you for including Revival Boot Camp in 4 hours of your life this week.  I hope that you feel like that you made a great investment of your time!

This weekend many of your fellow campers will be participating in various fitness events such as Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon, Stepehnville Lions Club 5K, Austin Capital 10K and the Benbrook Sprint Triathalon.  If you are not participating in one of these events, I challenge you to create your own "fitness event."  Schedule it today, invite a friend to participate and finish your "event" with you and begin to feel the benefits of structured and planned exercise in your life.  Maybe it's a walk or run in the park, or a trip the the gym.   One day off is good, two days off...not so good!  After you have thought about it, please report back to me about what your event will be...it's called accountability!   Do not sabotage yourself this weekend.  Set yourself up for success and keep those unhealthy extra pounds from aging your body.  Don't forget the pound for pound challenge.  For each pound that RBC looses, I will buy a pound of food for the food pantry in our church.  *Just a reminder that healthy weight loss cannot exceed two pounds per week.

During this session, our devotion time continues to be wrapped in the idea of impossible situations and is grounded in Mathew 19:26 as Jesus reminds his disciples that with men alone things are impossible, but with God all things are possible.  This is such a comforting thought to me as I continually remind myself that I must fully rely on God in all aspects of my life.  This is such an uncomfortable thing for me to do, but as I have said countless times this week, "become ok with being uncomfortable!"  For me that means, picking up my cross and turning over the reins to the One who reigns supreme.

We are 4 sentences in to the prayer that I have in my bible that addresses Impossible Situations.  Here we go so far....

"Lord, I have found myself in an impossible situation.  I don't even know how I got here, but I can't even begin to see a way out.  I am battling circumstances that I cannot defeat.  There is nothing anyone can do....just You."  Stay tuned for the rest.....

Until dark and early Monday,
Amy

Terrific Tuesday

Dear Campers,

Terrific Tuesday workout my friends!  You have taken the past two days and shown yourself that it is POSSIBLE to be stronger, healthier and more disciplined in your actions.  I commend you on a job will done!   Just when you feel like you may be in an impossible situation just refer to Matthew 19:26 and be reminded that with God all things are possible.   Reassure yourself that the only POSSIBLE way to grow is by being uncomfortable.  When you step outside today be reminded that the winds of change are good and can bring countless blessings!

See you dark and early on Thursday,
Amy

Marvelous Monday

Dear Campers,

Hooray!  You made it through the shock of the first day!  I know that you probably felt an afternoon lull and are probably feeling very fatigued at this point in the day.  This is perfectly normal and is to be expected.  I am so proud of you.  You did great!  Revival Boot Camp (RBC) takes awhile to "get into your blood."  Give yourself credit where credit is due and begin to remind yourself that you are moving from an "Impossible" to an "I'm Possible" mindset.  Isn't it empowering to be a part of such a cool thing at 5:00 AM?  I love it and feel so blessed to guide our journey to health and fitness together.

These are a few helpful hints or suggestions to ensure that you get the most out of your experience.
1.  Drink water, and lots of it! (Minimum of half your body weight in ounces per day)  Be sure to bring water to camp and have an extra in the car to drink on the way home.  Stop drinking unhealthy drinks that add to your caloric intake for the day.  Be aware of artificial sweeteners.
2.  Listen to your body and work at your pace, but DON'T QUIT!  There is a difference between being DONE and QUITTING!  Be sure that you are DONE (given 100%) each time you walk away from RBC.
3.  Some campers find that they feel better eating a bite or two of something before camp, while some prefer an empty stomach.  Find out what works for you.  This is something that you have to fine tune yourself.  Try both and see what works for you......I like an empty stomach!!  Could be a great conversation starter in the morning while you are walking your warm up laps!
4.  The warm up laps are there to begin to trigger your body and brain that it is awake and ready to exercise.  You must have your alarm set no later than 4:30 to ensure safety during our 5:00 am workouts.  Use the laps as a social time and also remember that there is a science behind what we are doing and it will help keep everyone safe and injury free.
5.  Tomorrow we will weigh-in for the POUND FOR POUND challenge that I have issued to you.  I will have index cards and all the necessary items.  So arrive, weigh-in and begin to walk to warm up.  Don't freak out, it will be ok, I promise!
6.  Healthy weight loss begins in the grocery store and in the kitchen, while building strength, endurance and confidence begins in the gym.  I know that this is not what many of you want to hear, but in a "normal day" it is next to impossible to exercise your way to weight loss (especially for women).  The truth is that you must be very mindful of everything that you choose to fuel your day with.   We will talk more about that each and every day!   Your family doesn't need that junk food, either!
7.  Revival Boot Camp bed time is 9:00 pm..... make it happen and see the benefits for you and your entire family.  It is during deep REM sleep that our body releases weight regulating hormones, especially Growth Hormone (GH).  Get to bed early!
8.  Pray for your own health and fitness.
9.  Don't speed on the way to RBC, the Granbury Police force has proven to be on full alert at that time of day.  Trust me, I know and so do many other campers.  Hmmmm...sounds like another great conversation starter during warm up lap time!

If your are new to RBC, I hope you felt welcomed and if you are a returning camper, I hope you felt at home.  I would like to thank Granbury First United Methodist Church for continuing to house Revival Boot Camp.

Until dark and early Tuesday,
Amy

It's that time!

Hey Campers,

It's Revival Boot Camp Eve and I am so excited to see each of you.  Our theme this session will be, "From Impossible to I'm Possible!"   That one little apostrophe makes all the difference, just like God does in each of our lives!  If you are bring a friend be sure to introduce them to me and I will have them fill out a registration form.  Remember that you get a $10 discount for each new person that you bring to RBC.   If you already have a current registration form then all you need to do tomorrow is to sign in on any of the sign-in sheets in the kitchen window.   Be sure to introduce yourself to a new face tomorrow and share the possibilities!  Come and find your apostrophe...............

See you dark and early,
Amy

Last chance workout

Hey Campers,

Tomorrow is our last workout before Spring Break.....it will be a killer, I promise!    I am so excited!

I also wanted you to know that I will have registration forms for the Granbury Road race with me tomorrow.  The race is Saturday, March 19 and starts at Hewlett Park and is a beautiful course.  Many of you have exressed that you are ready to begin a running journey.  This would be a great starting place.  There is a 5K (3.1 miles) and a 10K (6.2) event.  Walkers are welcome!  I would love for RBC to be seen as united force of Christian Strength in Granbury.   Scott Pangle is giving us a $20 group registration rate.  We can wear our new RBC shirts and be amazing!

I am so excited to give you your shirts!  You have earned them for sure!  Remember, everyone is always welcome to attend RBC, so bring a friend and share in the fun.  See you dark and early.

Love,
Amy

Thank you!

Dear Campers,

There are times in life when the words "thank you" don't seem to be enough.  This morning was one of those times for me.  God has graciously blessed me with so many meaningful relationships.  I am so filled with gratitude.  The prayers you prayed for my dad were heard and answered.  He is doing very well.  Thank you so much.

Continue to live with intention and strive to make connections with every person you encounter.  There are so many God given things about you that the world needs to see.  Shine your light, share your gifts and soar higher than you thought possible.  You are beautiful.  I will never forget this birthday, you have filled my cup 40 x 4!

See you dark and early tomorrow.

With sincere thanks,
Amy
